This was a fun read. I blew through it and it left me wanting more!

A fun story. In some ways, it reminded me of the TV series Ghosts. I like that the author deliberately didn't specify the gender of any characters, although I only realised that when I read the acknowledgements 🙂

This is a fantastic series to dive into.

A great short story. I read it when I had almost finished Livid Skies. It was interesting to see events that I'd recently read from Georgie's perspective, but told from Katya's side.

I really like the concept of this series, and this book delivers. The characters are all interesting, but very different, and I feel like I'm starting to get to know the Aunties better, especially Baz. The idea that drag queens are targeted for violence is all too realistic, and there are some very unpleasant individuals, but the author manages to keep the tone light.As a fan of both Douglas Adams and Dharma Kelleher, the references to them made me smile :)

If you enjoyed any of the others in the series, or the Starship Teapot series, I'm sure you'll love this one too.

This was a fun read, full of interesting characters and philosophy. I really liked the attention to world building, as the author paid attention to all the little details that often get swept under the rug (like everyone in the universe speaks English and is a naked biped). But most of all, I enjoyed spending time in a universe full of kindness and empathy. And shirty, fowl mouthed robots.

I wasn't expecting this series to be so comprehensive and captivating. The research that would have to have been conducted to pull this series off so convincingly must have consumed many, many months, full-time. Then, to top it all with a cast of wonderfully diverse characters which also would have demanded a good deal of familiarity to get them so right, makes for a truly compelling read. This really is an extremely good series.

I really enjoyed this. After reading the Starship Teapot series, I picked up the free Friends in Need. As with Starship Teapot, i really enjoyed the characters. This book follows neatly on from Friends in Need and introduces a new character, Baz. She complements the other old ladies well. I was surprised (not in a bad way) at how things turned out but can't say more without spoiling. I don't read a lot of cosy mysteries, though, so that might just be my inexperience with the genre.

I'm really enjoying this series. As the description says, this book is a cross between The Thing and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The term "cozy horror" seems like it should be a contradiction in terms, but that's what this book is. It's also very funny.

It's not remotely scary, but nonetheless kept me wondering what was happening and how things were going to be resolved. The ending was unexpected but also very believable.

With thanks to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this - it was an absolute lark. The concept of the figurative translator was so clever - I loved how it meant that it could be easily understood by the reader whilst also allowing for Lem to be utterly unaware of so much of it.

The characterisation was fantastic, and as someone who isn't a dog person, I must admit that Spock stole my heart. The whole cast of characters was great, though, and it's hard to pick a favourite (but it's probably Aurora). I look forward to reading the sequel!

As a final note - the little bit after the content warning made me feel so reassured going into this book. A beautiful, valuable declaration, and it made me very happy to read

Another great read in the Vigil Auntie series.
Relevant cosy noir that is full of sharp righteous characters standing up against the ignorant angry greedy and murderous.

I'd like to start by thanking Si for being incredibly kind and giving me a free copy of this book to read in exchange for a review. I'm so glad to have gotten around to reading this wonderful, witty, fast-paced ode to everything sci-fi with a huge dash of whimsy and a ton of heart. As with all of the best books, I fell in love with the characters and storyline right from the start and enjoyed each page more than the last.

Lem, our protagonist, is instantly lovable. Her voice as a narrator is a perfect representation of the emotions and expectations that any of us would have if we were suddenly abducted by a teapot-shaped spacecraft piloted by pastel bunnies. Lem's dry sense of humor, penchant for sci-fi references, and unyeilding determination to stand by her friends (and dog) shone throughout her interactions with her newfound companions and introduction to the book's colorful cosmic setting.

I always try to keep my reviews spoiler-free, but you don't even KNOW how much I want to talk about the rest of the cast. A collection of zany, diverse, brilliant characters who really bring so much joy and depth to an already amazing story and MC. I especially loved how many of the conversations between them all (but particularly between the rest of the cast and Lem) were filled with misunderstandings and confusion over differing experiences. The reason I loved this is because, despite often lacking common ground, there was still such a gentle level of care shown. You don't have to fully understand someone else's life or experience in order to accept those things as valid and worthy of respect.

I adored the conversations and scenes surrounding Lem's gender and her asthma and allergies. I felt that they were handled wonderfully. For a whimsical, light-hearted sci-fi romp, this book had lots of beautiful moments thar truly touched me. (And just as many that made me laugh!)

Thanks again so much to Si for providing me with my copy AND for creating this world and these characters. I can't wait to continue the series!! (Also, not to pick favorites, but Bexley is absolutely the BEST. 😁)

An excellent sequel, focused on life on Mars rather than planning the colony. I was particularly pleased to see that there was more about Devon.

I'm just hoping the author will write more in this series.

As the author says, this is a very niche book. There�s a lot of science (and there are notes about the science at the back), but if you�re a geek, you�ll probably love it.
Personally, I really appreciated and liked the representation of the autistic character Devon. It was sympathetic and most of all, it felt *right*.

I'm not great at reviews, but I will say it made me cry in a good way. It made me hopeful about and also portrays my worst fears for the future.
